Nativ Yossi Garr, Director Listen to Yossi Garr describe Nativ Five Nativ Alumni As New Olim On August 13th, five Nativ alumni arrived in Israel as new Olim on the Nefesh B'Nefesh flight! Four of the five alumni are from recent Nativ years. David Abraham from Tucson Arizona and Michael Bassin from Cincinnati OH were on Nativ 24, Debbie Kitmacher from Dallas TX was on Nativ 26 and Rachel Schneider also from Cincinnati OH who finished Nativ just 2 months ago on Nativ 27. The four will be joining the Israeli Army in the next few weeks. The fifth Bogeret Nativ, Camille Kahn was on Nativ 7 and arrived with her husband Rabbi Rob Kahn and their family from Minneapolis MN. They will be living in Jerusalem. Camille was greeted by her friend Rachel Goldberg who was also on Nativ 7 and staffed Nativ 13. Rachel made Aliyah with her family a few weeks prior to Camille.
Tzipi Livni, Israel's Foreign Minister, greets our "Bogre Nativ" at the airport.
They were all welcomed at the airport my many friends, family, Nativ alumni who have made Aliyah and past Nativ staff. It was exacting and moving welcoming them all as they took their first steps in Israel as new Olim and Israeli citizens. We wish all of them Mazal Tov on their Aliyah and the best of luck in their new endeavor as Israeli citizens.
Welcoming the Kahn Family at the airport Nativ 28 Arrives On September 2nd began the 28th year of the Nativ program. This year Nativ has a new record high number of participants -116. 20 of them will be studying at the Conservative Yeshiva for the first semester while the others will attend Hebrew University and Ulpan Milah. All 116 students together with their 6 staff members will live for the first 5 months of the program at the Fuchsberg Center for Conservative Judaism. Together they will be creating a large community that will live, learn and experience Jewish life first hand while in Jerusalem. During the second semester, the groups will head to the south where they will live and volunteer in three communities: Kibbutz Ein Zurim, Be'er Shevah and Yerucham. Registration for Nativ 29 has already begun and applications are available on line at www.nativ.org .
