Project "Neshama"

Michal Tzur, Director

Neshama 9th graders

Solomon Schechter Day School of Essex and Union, NJ sent the 9th grade for a week of study and touring this fall to Israel. The students were here mid September. They traveled all over the country. At the Fuchsberg Center, they meet with some Nativ’ers and other graduates of the Solomon Schechter Day School of Essex and Union spending a gap year in Israel. The highlight of the visit was a Mifgash with their peers in the Merchavim High School. The two schools have had a partnership for four years.

The goal of this program, other than having a meaningful bonding experience for the class of 2012, is to inspire them and have them approach their Jewish and Israel studies in a more personal and effective way. It is also a mini-introduction to the 12th grade experience of the high school “Neshama” program.
