Tarbut - Jerusalem Culture
Anat Infeld-Goodman, Director of Cultural Activities

The Tarbut Program of the United Synagogue Fuchsberg Jerusalem Center hosts a wide range of cultural events for the Hebrew speaking Jerusalem community, including lectures, classes, artistic workshops, concerts, and more. These programs are offered in cooperation with the Masorti Movement.

The Fuchsberg Center has opened its doors to a diverse cross-section of Israeli society from young couples to young families, from singles to older couples.

A young family program

This Hanukkah was especially joyous at the Fuchsberg Jerusalem Center. There were two events, one for children and the other for adults.

Hanukkah opened with a children's theatre event run by the fabulous Psik Theatre Company. Over 50 children accompanied by their parents enjoyed the interactive play: "The Woman and The Wind. A tale of King Solomon and justice". There was excellent feedback with kids jumping up to volunteer and a great, fun atmosphere.

Two Hanukkah lights later and the Fuchsberg Center enjoyed a special chamber concert for Hanukkah. The Atar Trio hosted soprano Yeela Avital in a concert of popular Israeli music fused with chamber music. Over 60 tourists, students, and families young and old, lit Hanukkah candles together and then enjoyed a concert that warmed a cold Jerusalem Winter night.

We just finished a very successful series entitled "Pioneerism in Jerusalem" combining lectures and field trips. Topics included : pioneerism in education, health, theatre, journalism and much more.

Our new series " Philosophic Encounters" pairs off Jewish philosophers with their counterparts in general philosophy such as Rambam and Aristotle.
