Nativ

Yossi Garr, Director

Listen to Yossi Garr describe Nativ

"American Thanksgiving Dinner"

The Nativ College Leadership Program in Israel hosted over 250 people at the Fuchsburg Center for Conservative Judaism in Jerusalem, for it's annual "American Thanksgiving Dinner". This included Nativ alumni from the first Nativ year until last year's alumni as well as this years Nativers and some of their families.

Yitz Jacobsen, associate director of the Fuchsberg Jerusalem Center
has the honor of carving the turkey for the 28th year in a row.

The evening began with Ma'ariv at Moreshet Yisrael Synagogue, followed by the showing of the new Nativ promotional video. Nativ's a cappella group entertained the participants. A special video created by the Nativers for the alumni about happenings on Nativ this past year was screened.

The main event of the evening was of course a big traditional turkey dinner where we filled up both dining rooms of the Fuchsburg Center. The dining rooms were decorated with beautiful artwork prepared by the Nativers. The meal included all the trimmings:stuffing, yams and of course Apple and pumpkin pie! It really felt as though we have cemented our own family here of 28 years of Nativ.

Hanukkah in Jerusalem!

For eight nights the windows of the Fuchsburg Center for Conservative Judaism were lit with hundreds of candles as Nativ students came together each night to light the Hanukkah candles.

On Tuesday night the third night of Hanukkah the entire group came together for a full scale Hanukkah party which included games, music and of course a sufganiyot eating contest.

On the eight night of Hanukkah the three groups went out to the community and joined the elderly in three local old age homes. There they lit candles, sang songs and brought the joy of the holiday to them in a very special way.

Registration for Nativ 29 has already begun and applications are available on line at www.nativ.org .
