The Conservative Yeshiva
Rabbi Daniel Goldfarb, Director

What’s nu at the Conservative Yeshiva?

Agents of Change
The Conservative Yeshiva recently participated in a three-part workshop, “Agents of Change”, about social action initiatives in Israel.
The program aimed to expose students to important social issues confronting Israeli society as well as to demonstrate the capacity for individuals to initiate change in the areas of social and economic justice, diversity, tolerance and inclusion, despite limited budgets and bureaucratic obstacles.

The program incorporated a field trip to meet with representatives of different social action projects dealing with neighborhood and community development, aid for refugee and asylum seeks, and women’s empowerment as well as fruit picking with food rescue organization Table-to-Table (Leket) – a hands-on contribution to change.

The program also included pre-and post-activity sessions to discuss the issues addressed and to develop skills in awareness-raising, resource development and volunteering.
This experience was not only informative but also showed students how they too can have an impact on their communities wherever they may be.

The Conservative Yeshiva’s Summer Program for 2010 will take place in sessions June 27 – July 15 and July 18 – August 5. It’s never to early to think about or tell a friend. Information can be found at www.ConservativeYeshiva.org or by contacting yeshiva@uscj.org.
